Maintenance Mechanic

POSITION SUMMARY

This position will require mechanical knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems.  Ability to support plant production by keeping the line availability at or above 97% uptime.  Must have knowledge of and be able to perform Preventive Maintenance procedures in an Industrial setting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Troubleshooting high speed packaging equipment and perform preventive maintenance.
• Troubleshooting pneumatic, electrical and mechanical systems.
• Work in and understand a lean environment.
• Ability to understand solid state, digital and programmable logic controls.
• Must follow standards for Industrial Safety.
• Knowledge of General OSHA laws for manufacturing.
• Must have the ability to provide line support to maintain the goal of 3% or lower downtime.
• Must be able to work within a team environment and with little supervision.
• May be responsible for reading manuals, determining parts needed and sourcing parts for quotes.
• Will be expected to do fabrication work such as welding, cutting and assembly in a safe and efficient manner.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum of 5 years' maintenance mechanic experience in a manufacturing/processing environment. 
• This position will work closely with line operators and be expected to train and assist them on technical problems.
• Must have excellent safety record.
• Knowledge of SQF and GMP requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret blue prints.
• Must have knowledge of HVAC systems.
• Must be able to repair and maintain pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Must have good attention to detail and be able to work in a clean, safe manner.
• Must be able to work under pressure of deadlines.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• High School diploma, or equivalent GED;
• Five years of related experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Able to lift 65 lbs. on own up to 4 or 5 times daily;
• Must be able to climb rolling ladder;
• Able to stand or walk for long periods of time.

COMPETENCIES

• Attention to detail;
• Must perform work with a sense of urgency;
• Able to work under pressure;
• Ability to gain a general knowledge of computers and internal system;
• Able to work with minimal supervision.

• No travel is expected of this position
